Part 4: "By Paul
Rosenthal"
What does one do with degrees in English and History?
Well, writing about history is a good start—a realization that
nudged me toward the museum biz. The biggest shove in that
direction, though, came from my dad.
A father in the museum design field introduced me to a
profession that most folks never think about. Being able to
talk to history curators, have experience writing, and
understanding the design side of the business but me in a good
position. (Plus, the field wasn't very crowded then, so I was
able to edge my way in.)
In
1983 I kissed CBS goodbye and went into business for myself.
Much of my work at first was in promotion and marketing, which
I'd done at CBS, but over time museum work dominated, along
with the occasional children's book.
