Part 3: New York, New
York
Though born and raised in Los Angeles, I was a New
Yorker in my bones. I became one in fact, moving to Manhattan
the day after graduating college...and having my apartment
robbed that evening. Someone smashed the skylight, but happily
I had little worth taking.
My first unremarkable New York jobs included editing a
newsletter and waiting tables which writing unperformed plays
and unpublished novels. Happily, I auditioned for the New York
Gilbert & Sullivan Players, where I pattered away in the
comedian roles for about 7 years. More importantly, I met
Claudia there.
When not taking pratfalls I worked for the International
Design Conference in Aspen (from New York), then spent three
years in the design department of CBS Inc, on the right hand
of Lou Dorfsman, which greatly impeded his mobility.
