Published as an app for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch—and named by Apple as "app of the week" three days after its debut—X is for X-ray features the photography of Hugh Turvey, Artist in Residence at the British Institute of Radiology, and lighthearted verse and essays by Paul Rosenthal.

The interactive children's book allows readers to transform images smoothly between natural light and x-ray as well as to enlarge or rotate images 360° at any point in the x-ray transition.
